Trim Levels
Ford brings the 2018 Escape to the showroom in four trim levels: S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. Starting off the models is the S, which offers exterior amenities like 17-inch steel wheels, a rear spoiler, LED tail-lamps, and front and rear windshield wipers. The SE adds 17-inch silver-painted alloy wheels, privacy glass, roof rails, fog lamps, and dual chrome-tipped exhaust. At the SEL level, the Escape gets LED signature lighting, skid plates, and a power liftgate; while the fully loaded Titanium adds 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, windshield wiper de-icer, and a foot-activated liftgate. Bring the 2018 Ford Escape to life with one of 10 exterior paint hues: Blue Metallic, Burgundy Velvet, Ingot Silver, Lightning Blue, Magnetic Metallic, Oxford White, Ruby Red, Shadow Black, White Gold, and White Platinum.
Engine
Three engine options grace the Ford Escape in 2018, and most drivers will be satisfied by the eclectic mix of power and efficiency. The standard engine, available solely on the S trim, is a 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder that pumps out 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The SE and SEL opt for a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces a bit more oomph with 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. For some extra power, most drivers will love the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine. This beast produces an astounding 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque for a 0-60 of just 7.1 seconds and a top speed reaching 116 mph. These engines all pair with a six-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. Intelligent all-wheel drive is optional.
Performance
Each trim of the Escape comes with some excellent fuel economy in 2018. With the 2.5-liter engine, the crossover gets up to 29 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city. The 1.5-liter variant offers 30 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg in the city, while the turbo 2.0-liter still provides 28 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city despite its impressive power numbers. The Ford Escape offers a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped with towing hitches and the 2.0-liter engine. All other engines max out at 2,000 pounds.
Interior
The surprisingly roomy interior of the 2018 Escape offers seating for up to five passengers while contributing up to 67.8 cubic feet of space for all your cargo. The Ford SYNC 3 system is at the helm for all your infotainment needs, providing instant access to navigation, music, and communication via an 8-inch touch screen or voice recognition.
Safety
The 2018 Ford Escape earns a near-flawless five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Standard and available safety specs include adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, a blind spot information system, and rear cross-traffic alert.
