1. The Winchester
Located, predictably, on Winchester Avenue, we absolutely love The Winchester for breakfast. They open early and do the most amazing omelets, which are served with toast and a side. Their homemade biscuits with gravy, eggs, and a side are also very memorable. This kind of filling home cooking is a great way to start your day. You’ll be full and satisfied and ready to check out the sights!
2. J J Restaurant
This place has been a bit of a local institution for well over a generation. The traditional family diner has a good selection of menu items on offer, but we go there for their terrific service. There’s nothing like a friendly smile and a warm welcome to brighten up your morning, and you will always get that at JJ’s – talk about a positive start to the day!
3. Oscar’s Breakfast, Burgers & Brews
You will find Oscar’s over on US Route 60 East in Barboursville. It is a clean and friendly restaurant with a great menu selection. The Uncle Jon Breakfast Sandwich is a definite highlight, with hickory-smoked bacon, cheese, and egg on a cheese and onion bagel. We would also recommend Verna’s French Toast which you can have with maple syrup or powdered sugar. Both options are delicious, so you might think about going halfsies with your companion!
4. Grindstone Coffeeology
On 8th Street in Huntingdon, Grindstone Coffeeology is the place to go for a great coffee and a delicious pastry. They don’t open as early as some on our list, but 8 am is still a great time for breakfast in our opinion. If you are in the market for something savory, you won’t go wrong with their breakfast bagel. Absolutely delicious!
We are definitely spoiled for choice with great spots to enjoy breakfast in this corner of KY. From great home-cooking and local farm-to-table menu items to fantastic coffee-to-go and more, this is a great area to start the day out right!
