2019 Ford Mustang BULLITT

The Ford Mustang has been the forefront of the American muscle car market since the classic design was introduced in 1964. Now in its sixth generation, the 2019 Mustang carries the legendary heritage of the marque forward. Reintroduced for this model year is the iconic BULLITT trim styled on Steve McQueen’s car from the 1968 movie.

Exterior Design

The Mustang looks fast even when stationary and, while the latest model has styling cues from its predecessors, it features state-of-the-art technology and design. In addition to the BULLITT, the Mustang is offered in Ecoboost, Ecoboost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and the high-performance Shelby GT350 and GT350R trims. You can have the Ecoboost models and GT Premium with a convertible roof.

Ecoboost trim has the distinctive grille with its pony emblem flanked by signature LED lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels, and color-keyed mirrors. The Premium adds pony projection lights and 18-inch wheels. GT trim has a quad-tipped dual exhaust, while the GT Premium features a rear decklid spoiler. The GT350 has unique styling and a pedestal spoiler, and the GT350R offers a carbon fiber rear wing.

Power

Four engines are available with increasing power levels, all of which are as happy on the track as they are on the highway. The Ecoboost has a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up to the GT gets you a 460 horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 that produces 420 pound-feet of torque.

BULLITT features the same engine, but it’s boosted to deliver 480 horsepower. As standard, these engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Alternately, you can opt for a 10-speed automatic. For true track-bred performance, the Shelby models feature a 5.2-liter V-8 pumping out 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. It’s exclusively paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Performance

For use on the track, all Mustangs offer launch control (manual transmission only), electronic line-lock, and Track Apps to provide instant performance metrics. The four-cylinder turbo engine can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in under five seconds. The V-8 in GT trims will go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds.

With these engines, you can opt for an active valve performance exhaust to control the exhaust volume. It features normal, quiet, sport, and track modes and comes as standard on the BULLITT. For true exhilaration, the GT350’s 5.2-liter V-8 will pin you to your seat as it propels you to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and completes the quarter mile in less than 12 seconds. Many performance enhancements are standard on the GT350s and available on other trims.

Comfort and Convenience

Unlike some muscle cars, the Mustang has a comfortable and sophisticated cabin that seats five adults in comfort, making any road trip a pleasure. It features advanced technology, such as the available color-customizable 12-inch digital instrument cluster. Available driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, frontal collision alert with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, a lane keeping system, and rear parking sensors.
