Grayson Lake State Park

Paintsville Lake State Park

Paintsville Lake State Park rivals Grayson Lake State Park in beauty and size. Located at 1551 Kentucky Rte. 2274, the park boasts 1,140 acres of diverse landscapes ranging from foothills and cliffs to a large lake and sprawling woodlands. The park is an ideal place to go camping and also has fishing facilities available.

Carter Caves State Resort Park

Carter Caves State Resort Park, which can be found at 344 Caveland Dr, has the largest natural bridge in the entire state as well as some fantastic hiking trails. Few destinations in Kentucky are as beautiful as Carter Caves. Carter Caves has a large fishing lake stocked with a variety of different species and allows boating and picnicking. Additionally, the park has a nine-hole regulation golf course and a miniature golf course.

Jenny Wiley State Resort Park

While the other parks mentioned here permit camping and have lodges, Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, at 75 Theatre Court in Prestonville, has one of the most impressive. If you are looking for a little more than a basic picnic, then this is somewhere to consider. Fishing is permitted, as is canoeing. During the summer, theatrical productions are held on the park’s grounds and are open to the public.

Yatesville Lake State Park

Yatesville Lake State Park is known for its cleanliness, making it the ideal place for families to visit. The park is very popular with golfers too as it has its own course. The park does get very busy during the summer, so if you plan on picnicking there, be sure to arrive early on the day you choose to visit. Similar facilities to those mentioned in relation to the other parks discussed here are also available.
