2020 Ford Escape

Welcome to the all-new, redesigned Ford Escape. It brings with it many new features for SUV drivers to get excited about. Here are some of the new capabilities you can look forward to on the 2020 Escape.

1. New Generation, New Escape

The 2020 Ford Escape is the first of the fourth generation, which means that it’s undergone a complete redesign from last year’s model. Its looks have been updated and so have its power levels. Those who found something disagreeable about previous Escape generations should give this year’s model a thorough examination. While fans of the last generation should be doubly excited about this one.

2. Greater Power

This year’s Escape gives you an enhanced lineup of engine options. As you move up the Escape’s trim levels — the S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium — you’ll have more access to more power.

The S and SE trim levels are equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. At the SE Sport level, you’ll get a hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that created a combined 200 horsepower. Those looking for the most strength the Escape has to offer should opt for the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that creates 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.

The new Escape can be equipped with an all-wheel drive system that improves traction on slippery roads. An available disconnect system lets you disengage this all-wheel drive when you don’t need it, which improves fuel efficiency.

3. Hybrid Options

After a hiatus, the hybrid Escape is back to give SUV drivers better fuel economy. We haven’t seen a hybrid Escape since 2012, and eco-minded drivers are excited about the new option. In addition to the conventional hybrid model, there’s also a plug-in hybrid version available.

4. Sharper Exterior

Perhaps the most obvious change to the new Escape is its exterior update. The new Escape is now more muscular and modern than its older sibling. A handsome-looking black mesh grille replaces the outdated chrome grille of last year’s model. The headlights are sleeker as well, stretching further back along the hood for a sharper style. In short, the new Escape simply looks more modern than it ever has, bringing the trusted name into a new era of subcompact SUV style.

5. Technology

The biggest differences between the 2019 and 2020 models are in the technologies they offer. Specifically, standard driver-assist technologies. These safety systems enhance drivers’ abilities to recognize and respond to dangers on the road.

Each 2020 Escape comes standard with Ford’s blind-spot monitoring system, a forward collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and more. Though the 2019 model had access to many of these technologies, for the most part, they were optional.
