1. Memory Hill Foundation Museum

One of the best ways to get to know a place is by exploring its history. To get to know West Liberty and Morgan County on a more personal level, head to the Memory Hill Foundation Museum.

This cultural museum features a colonial-era collection of eight cabins and a great many antiques that tell the story of the first settlers of the area. Through exhibits, visitors can learn about what the lives of the first colonials who lived in the area were like. The museum is only open by appointment, which you can make by calling 859-743-4482.

2. Morgan County Farmers Market

To get a taste of what life is currently like in West Liberty, be sure to show up to one of the Morgan County Farmers Markets. In addition to supporting local agriculture and crafters, you’ll find some of the freshest fruits, vegetables, and meats at this market.

The Morgan County Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Mondays and Saturdays from July to October at the Highway 460 intersection at Wells Mill.

3. White Oak Pumpkin Patch

Make visiting the White Oak Pumpkin Patch a tradition every fall. This pumpkin patch is located at the Oldfield Farm in West Liberty, and during harvest season, it’s a great place to visit with the whole family.

Take a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch to choose your next jack-o’-lantern. Let the kids loose at the petting zoo before you all take on the corn maze. If you’re looking for family photo ops, White Oak Pumpkin Patch is where you’ll find them. Harvest season starts in September, so be sure to set aside some time to visit this wonderful farm.

4. Cave Run Lake

No summer in West Liberty is complete without paying a visit to Cave Run Lake. Though it’s about 20 miles away, its 8,270 acres of natural beauty makes the trip worth it.

Cave Run Lake is in the Daniel Boone National Forest and is a hot spot for outdoor activities and sports enthusiasts. The most popular activities it offers are boating, fishing, hiking, and hunting. The national forest as a whole offers more than 600 miles of trails, so each visit can be a new experience. Setting up camp at the lake for a night or two every year is a fantastic way to restart and refresh. After weeks of taking on your busy schedule, a trip to the lake is just what you need.
