Pumpkin sitting in a pumpkin patchWith the fall season in full bloom, now’s the perfect time to plan your Halloween itinerary. What better way to spend the day than at a top attraction guaranteed to get you in the holiday mood? Here’s a guide to four can’t-miss events near Morgan County.

White Oak Pumpkin Patch

This West Liberty attraction is perfect for all ages and features activities such as hayrides, corn mazes, a corn chute slide, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and a petting zoo. Plus, you’ll get to browse through 60-plus varieties of pumpkins, gourds, squash, hay, and Indian corn while you’re here.

If you plan on taking the kiddos to this family-friendly event, White Oak Pumpkin Patch is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 7 p.m. Admission is $3 per person, though certain activities may require a small access fee.

Two Sisters Pumpkin Patch

Located about 40 miles north of West Liberty, the Two Sisters Pumpkin Patch is a nice alternative for families looking for an outing in Owingsville. This attraction features free admission through an 8-acre corn maze, a barn fully stocked with pumpkins, and an animal barn with mini donkeys and pygmy goats. You’ll also find rides through the pumpkin patch via train, tractor, and horse-drawn carriage. Additional activities perfect for all ages include pumpkin picking and decorating, a corn maze, and face painting.

Carter Caves Haunted Trail

Carter Caves Haunted Trail is also about 40 miles out. Located in Olive Hill, it sits on the grounds of the Carter Caves State Resort Park and includes a quarter-mile walk along a wooded trail where shadows lurk and haunts arise at night.

If you’d rather explore the trail during the day, you’ll have a better time taking in the beauty of the surrounding cottages, wildlife, and nature views. However, going through the trail at night is what really gets visitors into the Halloween spirit. Transportation to and from the trailhead is provided, and admission is only $10 per person for all upcoming dates.

Fallsburg Fearplex

Head 51 miles northeast of West Liberty and you’ll find the charming town of Louisa, though this next Halloween attraction is anything but. Fallsburg Fearplex is one of Kentucky’s most popular haunted attractions, and for good reason. Regular admission to get inside starts at $22 and includes access to all five attractions located on the grounds.

These include the Fallsburg Haunted House and its reconstruction of serial killer Edward Fullis’ home, and the remodeled Crazy Creek flanked by rundown vehicles and shacks. Other attractions include the creepy Collinsworth barn at Backwoods Blackout, the glowing passages of Appalachian Nightmare 3D, and the final resting place of Edward Fullis’ victims at the Last Stop Scrapyard.

Don’t worry that you’ll miss out on fun events to participate in this Halloween. There are plenty of exciting attractions worth checking out in and around Morgan County.
