Kids grow up quickly and families seem to change every year. There’s no better way to capture your family’s current state than by taking a few photos. The area around West Liberty, Kentucky, has some fantastic spots where you can take some stunning family pictures. Keep reading to learn where you should bring your family to capture these moments.

Carter Caves State Resort Park

This park, found on Caveland Drive in nearby Olive Hill, has the highest concentration of caves in the entire state, including Carter and Cascade Caves. The entire cave system consists of more than 20 caverns, four of which are open for tours.

But if you’d prefer to get some photos taken outside, Carter Caves State Resort Park has 26 miles of hiking trails that provide for stunning vistas. It has several natural bridges, including Smokey Bridge, which is the largest natural bridge in Kentucky. The 45-acre Smokey Lake is another option for photos. Maybe your family is a little more adventurous. If so, there’s a repelling and rock climbing area, which provides a 30- to 40-foot rappel or climb off a sandstone cliff line. One person can stand at the bottom and take photos of other family members.

Natural Bridge State Resort Park

Found on Natural Bridge Road, the Natural Bridge State Resort Park was established in 1926 and its famous bridge is its namesake. The sandstone arch, called the Natural Bridge, is 78 feet long, 65 feet high, 12 feet thick, and 20 feet wide. Some geologists believe this arch is more than a million years old. Head to this spot to take your family photos. The park also has more than 1,000 acres of nature preserve within the park, so you’re guaranteed to find a great place to take a few pictures.

Old Mill Park

Located on Riverside Drive, Old Mill Park is centrally located on the waters of Licking River and features a natural amphitheater with a covered state. It also includes two covered picnic shelters, a playground, and plenty of hiking trails. The park is landscaped and is a popular option for photographers who want a natural and scenic background. There’s also a beautiful rock garden near a fountain. Any of these locations are perfect to snap a few photos. Keep in mind that this park does host several events throughout the year, so you might want to check the schedule before bringing your family.

Treadway Memorial Park

This park, found on Glenn Avenue, has the only women’s military monument in the state. There are large boulders found in the park, walking trail, and memory garden that has several mature trees. Treadway Memorial Park also features a military tank and Vietnam memorial, so if you want a photo with some historical background, this is the place for you.

If you’re searching for a perfect outdoor spot in and around the West Liberty area, bring your family to any of these locations. As long as the weather cooperates, you’re bound to get some quality shots that you can share with your friends and family.
