2020 Ford Edge

Driver-assist technology has come a long way in recent years with features and systems to help drivers stay safe on the road. Ford introduced the Co-Pilot360 system in 2018 and bundled many of the safety features together in a straightforward package. Most Ford models now come standard with the Co-Pilot360 group of safety systems, which uses forward and rear-facing cameras to monitor the area around the vehicle. Here is everything you need to know about the Ford Co-Pilot360 system.

Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert

The blind spot information system alerts drivers of a vehicle in their blind spot when attempting to change lanes on the highway. It will detect vehicles and provide an audible and visual signal to let you know that it is not safe to move over. The rear cross-traffic alert system builds on this by detecting traffic behind you when you slowly back out of a parking spot or out of your driveway.

Lane-Keeping System

If you have ever become distracted when driving and found yourself too close to the edge of the road, the lane-keeping system is helpful. This uses a camera and radar to scan the vehicle’s position between the lines of the road and will send you an alert if you drive too far to one side. If the system detects that you’ve drifted over too many times, it will light up a coffee cup on the dash to let you know that it is time to pull over and take a break.

Pre-Collision Assist With Automatic Emergency Braking

The pre-collision system scans the road ahead and will alert the driver of any potential collisions, whether it’s with another vehicle or a pedestrian. If a crash becomes imminent and the driver doesn’t take any corrective action, the vehicle will automatically apply the brakes.

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control

The intelligent adaptive cruise control system will automatically adjust your speed to a set limit. It also has speed sign recognition, lane centering, and stop-and-go to keep you within a set speed. It can adjust your speed according to the speed limit signs and slow you down when there is traffic ahead. As soon as the traffic clears, it will automatically resume your set speed.

Evasive Steering Assist

Evasive steering assist is an available feature that will provide extra steering support to help you maneuver around slow or stopped vehicles in your path.

Active Park Assist 2.0

You never have to worry about getting into a tight parking spot with active park assist 2.0. When activated, this will help you locate a spot, and then you just need to put the vehicle into neutral and hold down the Active Park Assist button. The system will do all the work for you, whether it’s a tight parallel spot or a perpendicular spot that you need to reverse into. Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assist systems works to keep you safe. It is either standard or available in almost all 2020 Ford models and includes some of the most advanced technology you can find.
